4-H Club
The Feb.4 meeting with the theme Writing ll Making Valentine's was
wild. We love making Valentine's. The older teens used pen and
ink. Some hands will be permanently written on for a while.
We looked at some Animae art from Comic Books And they all did some spectacular
art. The Cloverbuds worked with construction paper and crafted some nice
cards. Woven baskets, portraits, and lots of paper fell like snow.
We also made large posters by drawing around people, coloring clothes and
drawing faces to make life size cut-outs. We had lots of good pizza
and pretzels.
Thanks for bringing snacks.

Suzuki violin
The Violin Studio with teacher Patrica Kim. Suzuki method. It's good,
we are pleased with the seven months our child has been playing. Never fear
they only play loud until they get intonation. Actually, we have filmed
our child with the Nanday Conure dancing on her head while she plays the
violin. Several of our friends asked to see Bam Bam dance on Kathy's head
while she plays minuets.
President's Day
Feb. 17 is President's Day.
Mount Vernon has an open gate. We like to go around 10 and smell
the gunpowder.
The re-enactors are drilling on the Bowling Green.Celebrate Washington's
Birthday with peanut soup at noon. We can wander around some more
and see things we missed the last time and, you can be on the firing line
while they fire at Mrs. Lee.Don't worry, they didn't shoot her the first
time, Oleg. She's still around.
Art
Pet portraits on 4x6¨ paper or canvas board. We discussed miniatures
and the Washington Post had an article on pet portraits we read aloud.
At Michael's we found some inexpensive paints and we looked at some miniatures
of children with their pets that an Amish artist had painted. Encourage
the children to paint slow since the Baron is going to serve breakfast, lunch
and dinner and everyone at the palace wants a picture of their pet. Don't
forget to shop around the frame shops for the best frame. We also discussed
auctions of art, and this could be an added activity. Paper fans with numbers
could be distributed. Bidders could raise their fan, and the winner could
take home a pet portrait.
